This is one of the funniest pictures I captured of Payton at Swiss Days this year (8.29.08). I wanted to get to Swiss Days early on Friday to enjoy a few less people but had to stay at work finishing up a major release of one of our software products. So my family went up earlier without me. I finally got out of work and got up to Swiss Days around 5:30 pm. On my way to the Johnson-Field spot (those of you who have experienced Swiss Days and have run across the Johnsons or Fields will know "the spot"), I walked by the entertainment pavillion and who did I see sitting there playing his Nintendo DS? Of course Payton!
The funny part was that the reason he was there was because he had found a power outlet and had his charger plugged in! If you notice (click on the picture for a larger view), you can see his power cord to the left of him (by Parker's head) making its way up the telephone pole to the outlet. Here Payton was, with crowds of people walking by and the Swiss entertainment blaring to the right of him, just as content as could be. He gave me one of those classic Payton non-chelant, no big deal, "Oh, hey Dad." greetings. Like he had seen me all day.
